GlucoCare ("the app") helps you log blood glucose, meals, exercise and medication. Your records stay on this device by default, and information leaves the device only when you use a feature that needs it. This page lists what is sent, when, and where.
Records you enter are stored only on this device and are never sent to the developer's server.
The carb estimate from food photos is also calculated on the device. Attaching a meal photo requires access to the camera or photo library, and photos are stored only on the device.
Blood glucose and other health data are sensitive information under Korea's Personal Information Protection Act. The app uses it only for logging, statistics and Ask AI, and it leaves the device only when you use Ask AI (section 3). The first time you use Ask AI, the app shows what is sent and who receives it when you send your first question, and asks for separate consent to processing of health information. International transfer is disclosed as described in section 4. Every other feature works without this consent, and you can withdraw it at any time in Settings.
When you ask a question, the following is sent to generate the answer. Nothing is sent if you do not use Ask AI.
This information passes through the developer's server (Google Cloud, Seoul region) to Anthropic's AI model (Claude), and the answer comes straight back to the app. The developer's server does not store your questions, answers or records. It keeps only a usage count and subscription status per randomly generated anonymous ID. Anthropic does not use data received through its API to train its models. See the Anthropic Privacy Policy for details.
Ask AI answers are for information only. Diagnosis and prescriptions come from your clinician.
Information is transferred outside Korea only when you use the features below. Because these processors are engaged to provide the service you request, the transfer is disclosed in this policy under Article 28-8(1)(iii) of the Personal Information Protection Act, and Ask AI also shows it on screen before your first question.
| Recipient | Country | Items | Purpose | When and how | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Anthropic, PBC (privacy@anthropic.com) | USA | Question, records and settings in section 3 | Generating Ask AI answers | Each time you ask, over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) | Kept for a limited period under Anthropic's policy, then deleted |
| RevenueCat, Inc. | USA | Anonymous ID, purchase details (product, transaction ID, subscription period), device and app information | Verifying and restoring subscriptions | When you subscribe or restore, over an encrypted connection | As long as needed to manage the subscription |
| Google LLC (Firebase) | USA and other countries | Usage and error information in section 7, anonymous ID | Analytics, fixing errors, feature configuration | While you use the app, over an encrypted connection | Under Google's policy |
The Ask AI server and the usage store (Firebase Cloud Functions and Firestore) are in the Seoul region.
The Ask AI subscription is paid through Google Play or the App Store. Neither the app nor the developer receives your card details. Subscription status is checked through RevenueCat. You can cancel at any time in your store's subscription settings. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy for details.
To improve the app, Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics collect: screens viewed and features used, install and launch information, device information (OS version, model), and error logs. When you save a record, the kind of record may be collected together with the glucose category (normal, high, low), reading timing, insulin type and diabetes type. Actual values such as glucose readings, insulin doses and HbA1c are never sent. No information that directly identifies you, such as your name, is collected. See the Google Privacy Policy for details.
Only if you allow it, the app reads glucose and exercise records from Health Connect and stores them on the device. It does not write to Health Connect and does not send what it reads to the developer's server. You can turn off access in Health Connect settings at any time.
A Coupang Partners banner is shown on the record screen. When the banner is shown or tapped, Coupang may collect information such as cookies under the Coupang Privacy Policy. The app does not collect advertising identifiers.
Reminders are local notifications on the device and do not use an external server. You can turn them off in Settings at any time.
You may ask at any time to access, correct, delete or stop processing your personal information. Information on the device can be edited or deleted in the app, and consent for Ask AI can be withdrawn in Settings. For information on the server, contact us below.
The app is not intended for children under 14.
